ACADEMY POLICY, INFORMATION AND REGULATIONS 2010-2011:
« FEES/REFUNDS/CREDITS TUITION Please refer to MONTHLY TUITION & TUITION POLICIES for details. RETURNED CHECK FEE There will be a $30.00 fee for returned checks (i.e.: NSF, closed account, etc.). INDIVIDUAL DANCER/FAMILY ACCOUNTS Each dancer or family may keep an individual account to help cover the costs of photos, costumes, dancewear, recital videos, etc. The money from this account may only be used for RAD activities and may not be removed for personal use. Money may be added to a dancer’s account through Academy fundraising activities or at any time during Academy Office Hours by cash, check or charge. Any account that remains inactive for 6 months will forfeit the balance to RAD. MISSED/CANCELLED CLASSES There will be no refunds or credit given for cancelled or missed classes. This includes classes cancelled because of an "Act of God" such as severe weather (for example a severe snow storm) or things over which the Academy has no control such as a power outage. The Academy will not necessarily close for snow days, regardless if area schools are closed, since many times the roads are clear and safe by afternoon. Conversely, if severe weather is occurring or imminent, the remainder of afternoon or evening classes may be cancelled to ensure the safety of all our families. During severe weather we are not always able to make it to the Academy to change the phone message, so please check our website for cancellations (www.ronyasdance.com). If a student has missed class due to illness or schedule conflicts please see an Office Assistant to find the appropriate make-up class. Classes may be made up August through April with a maximum of 4 make-up up classes per class (for example if a student takes a Ballet class and a Tap class they are eligible to make-up 4 Ballet classes and 4 Tap classes for the year). INSURANCE R.A.D. does not carry medical insurance for its students. All students should be covered by their own family insurance policies and, if injury occurs, it is understood that the students and their family are responsible for any medical costs. Participation in RAD activities is at your own risk and a RELEASE FORM must be signed for all participants.
« CLASSES CLASS PLACEMENT Students are placed into classes based upon their technical ability level, their age and size as best determined by the Staff. Shifting between classes may be necessary to determine optimum placement. DRESS CODE Proper class attire, according the RAD DRESS CODE or special teacher instructions, must be worn for class. Instructors will not allow students to participate in class if they are not in the specified attire. This is for the safety and education of the student. Class specific shoes are required for photos and recital participation. Please refer to the “Recital Shoe List” before purchasing your shoes to avoid any mistakes. Proper dance attire and shoes are available for purchase in the Academy. TARDINESS Students need to arrive 10 minutes before class begins and be prepared to start class at the scheduled time (this includes using the restroom). Tardy students will not be permitted to participate in class as it is detrimental to their well being and disruptive to other students. The beginning of every class includes a warm up period, which allows the student to physically and mentally prepare to participate in class safely. ATTENDANCE Attendance is taken at each class and recognition is given at the end of the Dance Year for perfect attendance. Students may miss one class and still earn the award. Regular attendance at classes is strongly encouraged and necessary for each student's learning, development and improvement. Absenteeism can hold back an entire class, and the Academy cannot jeopardize its responsibilities to the rest of the class for one student. Please make every effort to attend all classes. Excessive absenteeism or tardiness is cause for either dismissal or placement in a lower level class. It is the student's/parent's responsibility to phone the Academy ahead of time if the student will not be attending class. This is to prevent the staff from worrying that something drastic has happened. This will also help keep classes running on schedule. DROP/ADD/WITHDRAW The proper forms must be completed to change your schedule or withdraw from classes. A DROP CLASS FORM is used to drop a class from a student’s existing schedule. An ADD CLASS FORM is used to add a class to a student’s existing schedule. The combination of a Drop Class Form and an Add Class Form are used to change a student from one class to another. A WITHDRAWAL FORM is used for a student to drop all classes and leave the Academy (please refer to MONTHLY TUITION & TUITION POLICIES). No changes will be made without completion of the proper paperwork. CLASS PHOTOS All students are encouraged to participate in the class photos on Saturday, April 9, 2011. Students are not obligated to purchase any photos but are more than welcome to do so. Class photos as well as individual photos will be scheduled and taken (individual photos will only be scheduled and taken if they are being purchased). All photo order forms and monies will be due prior to Photo Day.
« BEHAVIOR/CORRECTIONS BEHAVIOR Students and parents/guardians are expected to set a good example for others in attitude, expression, and action. Students are expected to come to class with the proper attire, shoes and attitude. Any display of poor sportsmanship or uncooperative attitude from either students or parents/guardians will result in disciplinary action from the staff and the possibility of suspension of privileges or dismissal with no refunds. Parents/guardians (and adult students) are also responsible for the actions of those brought with them, or sent in their place, to the Academy/Academy functions such as relatives, friends, children, etc. The use of alcohol and tobacco by minors and the use of illegal drugs are strictly prohibited and is cause for immediate termination of lesson and privileges. DISCIPLINE Teachers will verbally discipline students if necessary. If a student becomes disruptive, he or she will be removed from class. Repeat offenses are cause for dismissal from the Academy altogether. TECHNIQUE CORRECTIONS At times teachers will employ hands-on adjusting to the students for proper placement and technique. « MISCELLANEOUS/EXTRAS COURTESY Please show respect for yourself, the class, instructors, and Academy by: ? asking the Office Assistant to get a child from class or for any emergency requiring class to be interrupted; ? not peeking in during class (we will have observation times); ? bringing students into and picking them up from inside the Academy, not the parking lot; ? parking in the sidewalk level parking area, not in the grass; ? having students ready for class before entering the classroom (including using the restroom and being on time); ? picking students up promptly after class; ? setting an example for others to follow; ? obeying all posted signs; ? scheduling a time with the staff to privately discuss any concerns.
