RAD Dress Code

ANY STUDENT NOT IN APPROPRIATE ATTIRE (in accordance
with the DRESS CODE) will not be permitted to participate in class. There will
be NO exceptions. Similar to a swimsuit, underwear should not be worn with
appropriate dance attire. Please be sure to ask a Staff member if you have
any questions.
This DRESS CODE will ensure the continued safety of our
students as well as promoting their understanding of proper technique principles.
PLEASE NOTE...
All students are permitted to wear warm-ups or a sweatshirt and sweatpants for
the beginning of class, but will be asked to remove them after the warm-up
period. Females are NOT permitted to wear
T-shirts in class at
any time. Smiles are always more than welcome to be worn for all classes!
Also, please ask about the style of shoes required for students who will be
performing in the annual Dance Recital so you do not purchase the incorrect
ones.

Manners for Students

Students show respect for themselves by:
1. being prompt for class; 2. being properly dressed for class:
-
without underwear under tights and
leotards
-
without jewelry (other than small earrings,
if any - no hoops or "dangly" earrings)
-
with shoe strings tied
tightly in double knots (if shoes have laces);
3. having their hair up off the neck and away from the face- in a bun, ponytail, braid, etc.
Students show respect for others by:
1. keeping their hands to themselves during class;
2. waiting quietly for others to have a turn;
3. knocking before entering a classroom if they are late or need to interrupt;
4. talking only during share time, or when spoken to by the instructor;
5. remembering to be polite: saying "Please", "Thank you", etc.
Students show respect for their instructor and the art form
they are learning by:

1. being properly dressed and ready for class on time;
2. listening when the teacher speaks;
3. when sitting on the floor, sitting “criss-cross-applesauce” with backs up
straight;
4. being prepared for their turn;
5. always asking before leaving the room for any reason;
6. applauding their teacher at the end of class.
Students show respect for the Academy by:
1. leaving gum, food, or drink outside;
2. never hanging on the barres;
3. never running or doing gymnastics in the dance rooms or lobby;
4. putting trash in the proper place;
5. putting away books and magazines when they are finished with them.
Parents show respect for the dance class, instructor, and
Academy by: 1. knocking before entering the classroom if a class is in
progress; 2. asking an Office Assistant to get a child from class; 3. not peeking in during class (we have observation times); 4. having students ready for class before entering the classroom (including
using the restroom); 5. picking students up promptly after class; 6. bringing students into and picking them up from inside the Academy, not the
parking lot
(please park at sidewalk level
in the parking lot, NOT the lower level);
7. scheduling a time with the staff to privately discuss any concerns.
CLASS PHOTO DAY GUIDELINES
:
2 French braids, tucked under at the ends, no bangs
Recital costume, tights and shoes (if participating in the Recital)
No make-up (clear lip gloss only if you’d prefer)
Older dancers (13 & up) may wear minimal
make-up if desired:
foundation, powder, mascara and lip gloss
- No glitter or sparkles on face, body or hair
- No jewelry
(none
for any students)
- All Recital participants must be in the appropriate shoes (the list has
been available here on the website and at the Academy since the beginning of
classes). If a dancer does not have the appropriate shoes, they will need to
be purchased prior to Photo Day or the dancer will not be allowed in the
group photo.
- Dancers should be completely ready for their photo
to be taken 5 minutes prior to the scheduled time (often we are ahead of
schedule and have to hold up an entire class for one dancer who comes
rushing in the door, unprepared, at the time the photo was supposed to be
taken)
- Please assist those around you who may need an extra hand or two, we
strive to make this a quick and easy event for all of our RAD Families
Please follow the directions of the Staff member(s)
trying to help keep things calm and moving efficiently (unless there is an
absolute emergency, Ms. Ronya will be placing and posing dancers all day in
the photo room and will not be available for consultation… the rest of the
Staff will be happy to assist with any questions or concerns)
